Student council

Students are the driving force that daily improves KPI, the city and the country with their enthusiasm, ideas and knowledge. In 1998, on the way to democratising higher education, the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” was extended with Article 38, which initiated the introduction of student self-regulation. It was then that active and conscious students of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute created the Student Council. Its main goal was and still is to create favourable conditions for the active participation of all students in the daily life of the university, its improvement and diversification. Then, in January 2010, the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” was updated to expand the powers and responsibilities of student self-regulation bodies, giving them more opportunities to influence the life of the university. The Student Council is an implementation of this right. We represent students at all levels, organise events, build international relations, inform and stand up for the quality of education.

Main goals and purposes of the Student Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute:

• promotion of educational, scientific and creative activities of students;
• organisation of entertainment and recreation of students;
• promotion and creation of necessary social and living conditions for university students;
• сarrying out inter-university and international work;
• protection of legal rights and interests of students in public authorities and administration;
• promoting the employment of students;

The Student Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute actively cooperates with other student organisations of KPI and other universities, public organisations, youth associations, such as the Union of Initiative Youth, the Student Council of Kyiv, the All-Ukrainian Student Council, the National Student Union. The student self-government bodies of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute are among the most active in the all-Ukrainian youth space, participating in conferences and working groups on student self-government and current student issues.
